Sony desbloquea el 7º núcleo de la CPU de PlayStation 4 para juegos

Sony informed game developers that it has unlocked an extra CPU core for them to utilize in their PlayStation 4 games.

PlayStation 4 sports an 8-cores CPU, but Sony gave game developers access to six cores only and reserved the last 2 cores for the operating system. A similar arrangement was adopted by Xbox One before Microsoft ditched downgraded Kinect’s status to that of an optional peripheral and released its CPU core to game developers.

Sony didn’t clarify the reasons behind its decision to release one of the two OS CPU cores, but it means that PS4 developers now have 10% to 16% more processing power to utilize.
