AMD Facing Trouple With Llana Yields

AMD informed its investors that it won't be able to achieve its previously forecasted 8 to 12% percent rise in quarterly revenue due to Llano manufacturing issues at GlobalFoundries

The company announced that revenue for the third quarter ending Oct. 1, 2011 is expected to increase by 4 to 6% as compared to the second quarter of 2011. The company previously forecasted third quarter 2011 revenue to increase 1%, plus or minus 2%, from the second quarter of 2011.

The less-than-forecasted preliminary third quarter 2011 revenue results are primarily due to 32 nanometer (nm) yield, ramp and manufacturing issues at GLOBALFOUNDRIES in its Dresden, Germany factory that limited supply of "Llano". Additionally, 45nm supply was less than expected due to complexities related to the use of common tools across both technology nodes.

The company also revealed that shipments of AMD's next-generation server processor, codenamed "Interlagos", occurred later in the third quarter than originally anticipated.

Meh

Sadly fan boys aren't the center for these companies get over it it's politics to them, different histories and different purposes. If you want an all out gaming rig with the soon to be DRM infested architecture called Intel then go with that, if you want the stability of servers and applications in general than go with AMD. 90 million cores doesn't make Intel a winner, there is more to the processing than most care to speculate or even argue.

When the people

When the people at the top start giving instead of taking, then the economy will start to recover. But whos going to be the ones to pry their money from their cold dead hands?

The news is bullshit

Everyone thinks CEO's are idiots, but that is all the news reports. The news does not report dog bites man, they report man bites dog. Today's CEO's are actually the best there's ever been. Think about it, in a fucked up economy these crazy yahoos have managed cut leechers and go on to make record profits. Talk about efficiency :) Once Obama gets voted out, the money the corps are sitting on will roll, and people will get hired, and the economy will expand big time(which is of course assuming that Germany cuts the losers, Greece and Italy, loose). Busts in the economy are caused by mal-investment which is encouraged by low-interest rates. So more than anyone it is Greenspan's fault we are in this mess. Also, Government is not a responsible spender of other people's money. Duh. So until someone has the fucking balls to raise the interest rates and put the goverment on a diet despite the politcal backlash, we are going to be stuck in this economic stagflation for a loooong time.

Offtopic and wrong...

You do know theres no way to keep the economy running smoothly forever right? It's capitalisms nature to grow and grow until it starts to hurt itself and bring about its own collapse. Carl Marx was wrong about socialism, but he was right about capitalism.
