Blizzard Cofounder: Project Titan May Not Be An MMORPG Anymore

During an Activision Blizzard earnings call Blizzard Entertainment co-founder Mike Morhaime confirmed that the company’s long in development Project Titan is undergoing substantial change and that it may not even be an MMORPG anymore.

"We're in the process of selecting a new direction for the project and re-envisioning what we want the game to be," he said.

"While we can't talk about the details yet, it is unlikely to be a subscription-based MMORPG."

Project Titan has been in development since 2007. Last May, Blizzard upheaved its development and slashed its team to 30 members, down from its original size of 100+ members. The game is not expected to release before 2016.

Extra-long development cycle – check. Replacing staff amid development – check. Changing technology and tools before launch – check. Large design changes halfway through development – check. Looks like Project Titan is right on track to be the next Duke Nukem Forever.

Just hacksign that ****.

Make an mmo designed to be used by the rift occulus. I would say just buy liscense for Wheel of TIme and turn that into an MMO, but then I'm about afraid of what slaughter blizzard would do to that series.

Who gives a **** about just

Who gives a **** about just another game with freaking item, stats, quest system, farming, everything in order to get more items and stuff that will eventually be undergraded by a new expansions, with a whole new set of... you guessed it! The same crap all over again with the exception of the naming used which of course, needs to be related to the new game title.

wow you guys are negative, so

wow you guys are negative, so far blizard havent created agame that is actually "bad" there are many flaws with diablo 3 but design wise its fine, not everyone agreed on the differences for starcraft 2 but its not a bad game, whatever project titans final form blizzard havent ever let me down, you guys are all just jumping on the badwagon because something changed about a game you know literaly no information about?

Diablo 3 = Epic failure

Diablo 3 was an epic failure and continues to be. The game has zero story and no replay value what so ever. It was a fun time at first but after grinding to level 60 it became a dull and lame excuse of a game. Blizzard has lost my business for life in protest to Diablo 3.

Protesting bad games is the

Protesting bad games is the ONLY way you can make a difference as a consumer. D3 wasn't just a bad game, it was supposed to be THE game. Expectations were extremely high and blizzard chose greed over customer satisfaction, they deserve to fail.
