Duke Nukem Is Back And Scheduled For 2011 Launch

2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that forever is nearly here, as Duke Nukem Forever will officially make its long-awaited debut for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in calendar 2011.

"Duke Nukem, the interactive entertainment industry's most irreverent and quoted character of all time, will bring his signature brand of babe-lovin', cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and ass-kicking action as he once again saves the Earth and our babes from hordes of invading aliens," the official press release reads.

"All great things take time... a lot of time," laughs Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "After a hiatus from the video game world, Duke Nukem is back and better than ever. The return of the King from the glory days of shooters will satisfy our patient, die-hard fans, as well as a new generation of bubble gum-chewing, flat top and shades-wearing bad-asses. Make no mistake about it - Duke Nukem Forever is a testament to the era of when shooters were bodacious and fun."

Put on your sunglasses and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are back and only Duke can save the world, again. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses won't stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-ass while doing it. The King of All Shooters is back with over-the-top weapons, massive aliens and unprecedented levels of interactivity. This game puts pedal to the metal and tongue firmly in cheek, among other places. Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle one of the many beautiful women that populate Duke's life; that is if you can pull yourself away long enough from kicking ass and taking names.

"Hail to the king, baby! It's unbelievable, it kicks ass and it's totally going to happen!" said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, "Gearbox has enabled die-hard key Duke Nukem franchise builders and skilled veteran game makers to stand together and deliver. All gamers deserve a happy ending and after all of us gamers feeling the full range of emotions about Duke Nukem Forever, I am thrilled to be in a position with the trust, power and means to make it happen. Am I crazy? Balls of steel, baby, balls of steel!"

Duke Nukem Forever is currently in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC and is not yet rated by PEGI. 2K Games has the exclusive, long-term publishing rights to the game.

I feel a huge let down

Considering GEARBOX just picked this up and have a release date tells me this game is a mod of boderlands. I feel this game is going to be so/so and I wont buy it. Although i might be able to 5 finger discount it online.

WTF cares?!!!

I wonder if it'll be as "great" as Doom 3 was? Or Quake 4? It's been coming out "FOREVER". Anyone who knew Duke Nukem has probably forgotten & anyone that never did, probably never wants to. We've all seen bigger & better things 10 years ago than this '90s remake.

Fuck off.

get your head out...

of your ass, this game is going to make fucking millions. SO MANY PEOPLE are waiting for this game, it's going to be epic, it's been a long wait, and if your expecting the second coming of Jesus, then you're obviously going to be let down, don't let the hype of the game exceed your expectations.

If you're just after another controversial duke game with heeps of titties and twisted humour that has updated graphics, then that's what you will get.

DNF is going to FUCKING Own.

When this game was first announced, I was 16 years old and had just purchased my first car. Now I'm 30 years old and married with a kid on the way. Heh.

I actually laminated my original EB Games pre-order receipt, dated 8/20/2001. If it's released, I can't wait to show it to the guys at Gamestop...

1997 to 2011...times flies. In addition to purchasing my first car, I was also rocking 'Quake' and 'Warcraft II' on my 200MHz Pentium machine with 16MB of RAM and no video card. Those were the days...

To long, To late.

sorry but no game can live up to 11 years of hype, "If" its ever complete and thats a big if, then they should prepare for a compete bomb, cause unless they have a groundbreaking new game engine then this is all in vain anyways cause my intrest lvls peaked about 9 years ago ;p.....just my opinion though

No dude, it's not your

No dude, it's not your opinion, it's a plain & simple fact. It's over a decade of hype. The above article is so full of the bullshit it's like the same marketing team on the Expendables wrote it.

This game will be a waste of everything that went into it, no matter who makes it, just by virtue of the fact that it is what it is.

Even that won't be enough, my friend. I'm convinced that any store display I'll see will probably be a projected hologram. I won't believe it until it's taken up residence on my hard drive.

Nah, it's going take at least two or three play-thru's before I concede to its existence.
