Google recently introduced a new search technology that may potentially change the means in which web pages are ranked in search results. As reported by the New York Daily News, the company is in the process of developing a new search engine currently referred to as Caffeine, which may have an impact on the current search engine optimization (SEO) strategies of companies.

Google engineers are quoted in the report as posting on the company's official blog, "For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google's web search... It's the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions. The new infrastructure sits 'under the hood' of Google's search engine, which means that most users won't notice a difference in search results. But web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences."

Some parts of this system aren't completely finished yet, and Google has created a preview at https://www2.sandbox.google.com / for developers and power searchers to try the new system and - hopefully - give their feedback.
