Guinness: Black Ops Has The Best Videogame Ending Ever

Guinness World Records has compiled a list of the Top 50 Videogame Endings of All Time as voted for by 13,519 gamers.

"The list will cause heated debate among passionate gamers and provide further evidence of the growing sophistication and popularity of videogames," the Guinness organization said in the press release. In fact, most of the games listed don't have especially impactful endings and - to us - the list feels more like a list of favorite games.

Last year's best-selling videogame, Call of Duty: Black Ops, developed by Treyarch, tops the list.
The dramatic finale features a frantic shoot-out inside a submarine and provides the game's hero Mason the chance to take vengeance for a murdered friend. The closing sequence offers a new twist on the classic JFK conspiracy theory.

Second place in the list is 2010's Halo: Reach developed by Bungie. Another First-Person Shooter, Halo: Reach takes place in the year 2552, with humanity locked in a war with the alien Covenant. During the post credits sequence the player's character, Noble Six, makes a final stand against impossible odds. Although he is eventually overwhelmed, his sacrifice ensures that the 'Master Chief' survives.

Over 13 year's old, Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time takes third place in the list. One of the best loved games of all time ends in classic fashion with the hero Link defeating Ganondorf and rescuing Princess Zelda.

It is interesting to note that no classic adventure games such as Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Broken Sword and Sam and Max made it to the list. There are also a few games that should be in the list but are not. Off the top our heads we can remember Beyond Good and Evil, Indigo Prophecy and Unreal 2 in addition to the original Fallout and the original Half-Life.

How about this?

Why not categorize into genre? Of the 10000+ games of all different genre's, I don't understand how Blops can even be considered top, above games that are 100 times more immerse and have rich, interesting characters.

Popularity contest.

Why the fuck does Guiness bother with dumb shit like this? Just to get people fired up? 13,519 gamers voted? Hmmm, out of how many millions that exist in the world? I'm currently playing through a shared copy of Black Ops, feeling like once again, as I follow the leader and/or waypoint through the scripted sequence of events down the pre-set path, that I'm wasting those few (thankfully) hours of my life. Since I don't really give a shit about what's going on in yet another same as always military shooter, and therefore don't give a shit about the characters, how could I give a shit about the ending? Just because these dumb CoD games continue in the market at $60 for like a year or more doesn't make them good. They suck in every way, compared to many other games out there. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but what's really so great about CoD? What isn't completely bland about it? What isn't the same but different about every successor over the previous? How is it not just some half-witted, half-assed cartoon through some decorated hallways? I just did the little motorcycle chase part. That was really weak. Funny how games like Skyrim, and Deus Ex, and Halflife-2 don't make the cut. Out of the millions of gamers with an OPINION, who'd Guiness ask, the population of 50 California elementary schools? I'll give you one good reason why CoD never has the best ending, and that's because it only has one. There's only one way to play the game, only one ending to watch. How is it possible, that a game like Mass Effect/2 (which aren't very good games really, but good stories) that have many different endings which carry over to the next game & determine parts of the story of the next one (if you keep your save), can be beaten out by this trash? Why am I bitching about it so much? I guess it's because it's not so much that BO is a dumb, shallow, pointless, fruitless series of cut-scenes separated by shooting foreigners in a decorated hallway, it's that Guinness is a dumb, shallow, pointless, fruitless assembly of information that has no merit and/or no value, but they happen to think it does. It seems at least 13,519 fucktards thought so too.

Get a life Guinness. Go find 13,519 different fucktards and you'll get totally different results. Ask the same group of fucktards at a later time & you'll get different results with games that existed when this dumb list was made. I just did a survey actually, to find out who the "Top 3 Most Useless Groups Of People Of All Time" are, and coming in at number 3 we got wel-fare bums. First runner up is, you guessed it, evangelists & religious leaders, and......... in the top spot, drum roll please................. Ohhhhhhh shit would you look at that it's a tie between Treyarch Studios & Guinness Records!!

The list was compiled from the results of a survey involving 1 voter.

No f'n way... what the f?

The moment I read the title to this topic I knew it was a COMPLETE LOAD OF SHIT!!! First of all, the experience of a game is VERY relative to each player. Secondly, even if you tallied the opinions of the masses (honestly), the results would not be what we have seen this list to be...even if Guinness (or whoever paid them) claims it to be.

....fucking bullshit.

Or whoever paid them?

LOL good thinking. Makes you wonder. Kinda like how Nvidia has their stupid "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" bullshit at the beginning of almost every game, and their cards cost way more than ATI's for the same performance. So what you might be saying is that, Every piece of dumb shit CoD stays at $60 ($55 more than it should've ever been) for like more than a fucking year, just to fund hype like this kinda shit? I wouldn't doubt it. Sounds like something EA would do too.

This shit is a HORRIBLE list black ops was a horrible buggy piece of sh*t and basicly the most selling game of 2010 because it had the name Call of Duty on it. I loved MW2 and MW1, so don't call me a fanboy. Halo: reach was a OK game but not a good one. Halo 3 was one of the best games yet so i wonder why it wasn't on the list i loved the ending aswell, it really captured me. I agree with the one who has Stupid as a subject aswell

Alright my favorite game got first!

I really like the multiplayer.

When there's nothing good to say don't say anything at all. I have nothing to say about any COD single players.

Go do your homework buttnut.

When there's nothing good to say, tell the truth in an objective way.

Your favorite game got first, and you have nothing good to say about the campaign? So could you fill me in on what the multi-player ending is like? I didn't quite get that multi-player ending. I totally missed that one somehow.

Good luck with life kid, you're gonna need it.

This poll is impossible to

This poll is impossible to take.
It's like asking political circles who their favorite president is between Obama or Bush..
Republicans will pick Bush Democrats will pick Obama.
Point is people will pick their favorite game for any favorite game ending.
And being Black Ops was the highest selling game, well then obviously it has the highest possible chance for it being a persons favorite game ending. Even if they dont remember the ending. They could have played just Multiplayer and never single and they would still pick it as favorite ending.

This poll is completly Bias and Guiness is fucking retarded for taking it in the first place.

if COD: World at War had made

if COD: World at War had made the list I might've rooted for Treyarch or whoever. Awe-inspiring. But now... Treyarch screwed it up. They should have at least taken out the Zombie ending. COD: BO gameplay is alright, but the story is bullshit.

LMFAO, what, did they ask kids aged between 13 to 13 1/2? Wtf. I think this record book is just telling people what they want to hear and has no value.

LOL, just shows how the gaming industry has taken a huge nose dive since the current generation of consoles was released.

Call of duty is the biggest piece of shit ever conceived.

What "credentials" did they have before? They document half-witted activities by no-witted retards like "most number of burritos eaten in 3 minutes" & "most number of pies in the face in 60 seconds".

They have a book that is like 1000 pages long which contains about 5 pages worth of valid & interesting information on it. Guinness is 2nd only to the Bible for the least value per page of any book written by man. Good luck beating the Bible on that one Guinness. "Lord" knows you're trying. LMFAO!!!

What is it that makes them so credible?

What a stupid list, is all about personal taste for the individual, one person will love it and another will hate it.
They would be better compiling a list of endings that appeal to differnt tastes.
