Iwata Apologizes For Lack Of Wii U Titles

In his Nintendo Direct presentation today, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata apologized for the scarcity of new Wii U titles so far, and promised that the pace should pick up by March.

"Nintendo takes seriously its responsibility to offer a steady stream of new titles in the very early days of a new platform to establish a good lineup of software," he said. "On the other hand, we also firmly believe we have to offer quality experiences when we release new titles. Based on our software development schedules at the end of last year, we concluded we should spend a little more time to satisfy our Nintendo standard of quality. I apologize to those supporting Wii U about the lack of titles in January and February."

Nintendo had several first party Wii U titles scheduled for release in January and February but they were all postponed to April or later. Titles that shared that fate include Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U, The Wonderful 101, and Game & Wario.

Ironically, this post-launch drought is exactly what Nintendo planned carefully to avoid months ahead of Wii U launch. "Nintendo tends to release too many titles at the launch of a hardware system and as a result suffers a drop in new games for quite some time after launch, and for the Wii U launch, we are being very careful not to let it happen," Iwata said in October 2012.

good thing im not being whored

so the early adapters can be the beta testers, pay hi price and take it in the back-side. all good. by the way, really love the freedom of speech megagames allows people to express themselves properly... whats the point of restricting and treating people like babies... big brother can have sex but you cant! ,,,now everyone including the family dog can have sex with the wife!!!! Wonderful! i mean all i said was **** just once on gamespot and they removed my hard work the message,, so i said **** off to them, read some news but never sign in or bother posting nothing. uptight bastards, keep your **** then.

So out of that entire

So out of that entire Nintendo Direct that had some amazing news about their core franchises and info about other amazing 3rd party games, you just take the first 5 minutes and draw it like it was meant to be only an apology letter. This is some biased reporting right here.

Im fine with the wait for more Wii-u titles.. its not like its the only console i have... i still play my ps3 just as much.. The wii u gamepad is a great addition. and Whomever shoved off the wii-u as (just a gimmicky slightly faster version) please shut up, you dont have a **** clue what your talking about.. compare the wii-u to its current gen systems (wii u is NOT and was NEVER meant to be a contender for the NEXT gen console war..) The wii u is a great little device. has LOADS of potential. If they figure out how to get the system to host 2 gamepads at once... ill be hooked for good.

For a start, i wasn't

For a start, i wasn't comparing the Wii-U to next gen consoles and where in my comments did i even suggest otherwise? ----- I actually agree with you when you say that the gamepad is a great addition. How could i disagree with such a comment when the last notable improvement to a game controller was made when the Wii was released? ---- Ok, we've had dual shock motion controllers and the like but nothing like the Wii's controller. ---- The point i was trying to make when i stated that the Wii-U is "a slightly faster, more gimicky version of the Wii" is that Nintendo will do what it has been doing with it's handhelds for the past few years. ---- They will release multiple versions of it in a bid to try and keep it fresh. This will eventually end up making the Wii-U a gimmick, much like it's handheld counterparts, and this will be because Nintendo will want to try and replicate the successes it has had with the DS and all its variants. ------------------ The problem with people like you is that you don't comment on what you actually read, you comment on what you think you've read. Practically going off topic on a subject that has nothing to do with what was being got at origionally. ----- Take the time to READ what it is that is written and NOT as though i had said something about your mother.

"wii u is NOT and was NEVER

"wii u is NOT and was NEVER meant to be a contender for the NEXT gen console war" - This phrase rendered your entire comment invalid because it shows just how much of a blind ****** you are. Do you really think nintendo is releasing another console next year for next gen? If you do then you proved my ****** comment right, if you don't then you contradicted yourself and proved my ****** comment right anyway. Sucks to be ya

I like Nintendo but the

I like Nintendo but the problem with them now is that they release a multitude of differing variations of their consoles. The only exception to this has been the Wii itself but it could be argued that the Wii U is just a slightly faster, more gimmicky version of the Wii console. ---------- I also find that It's a bit disingenuous of Iwata to states, in part, ".....we also firmly believe we have to offer quality experiences when we release new titles." And "we concluded we should spend a little more time to satisfy our Nintendo standard of quality". ------ The other problem that Nintendo has had with almost every console it has ever released is that it is flooded with a multitude of **** poor games. Don't get me wrong. They have some cracking games across all of their consoles but they are overshadowed hugely by the poor quality titles. ------ It's how they were able to successfully state that they had the largest amount of available games for their consoles. It's a pity that most of them were ****.
