Nintendo Limits European 18+ Content Access To Night Hours

As of today, the European Nintendo Wii U eShop allows 18+ rated content but only after 11pm daily.

Users who try to view trailers of games such as Zombiu now receive a message stating that "You cannot view this content. The times during which this content can be viewed have been restricted."

18+ rated content cannot be purchased or downloaded during the day even if it was bought during the night. These restrictions apply even if the user turns parental control off.

A Nintendo Italy representative confirmed the restrictions and explained that they have decided to restrict access to 18+ content to between 11 pm and 3 am as "an additional precaution to make sure that minors cannot access content which is inappropriate for their age."

"Nintendo has always aimed to offer gameplay experiences suited to all age groups, observing carefully all the relevant regulations regarding content access that are present in the various European countries," he added.

Several European countries such as Germany already have laws that prohibit the sale of 18+ content in brick-and-mortar stores before nightfall.

I thought that was called

I thought that was called parenting?.....but i guess we will leave that to the corporations in the future.... Horrible idea by Nintendo. If they do not trash it. I will never purchase any nintendo hardware/software again. What the hell is wrong with you people who are for this?

That's Great News

I absolutely and whole heartedly welcome this move. To summarise, the very thought of children getting a hold of some of the most ill and mind detrimental material that persists is diabolical to say the very least. Incompetent parents indeed have a colossal task at hand though they relinquish that obligation and consider it squandered, for that reason we depend on the publishers to do their part in assisting those that are mindless, and the parents needless to say sometimes buy these material for their children and make them to grow up a bane for society where everyone is at a loss. To be honest, they said computers were meant for education and educational purposes, like wikipedia and were meant to be beneficial for the children however, most of the children just plagiarised that and others watched hardcore porn that traumatised them, while others as young as 10, raped a 14 or was it 15 year old girl. You see, porn promotes the more physical side of relationships while totally disregarding the other aspects like social interaction. Without restrictions children will grow up thinking it is right to "blaze" someone for their mobile phone and this has happened often. Regarding intentions, if you want to **********, then it is all too easy to get hold of sexual content even for free, just type any sexual term in a search box. If you want to play video games you should get just that, I do not have the slightest clue as to why people like to mix these things together, resulting in: Kids having access to content, Bad gameplay, Mixed Emotions, non-family friendly, Negative Stigma and unnecessary attention making people think that you were an accomplice of the "Carry On" show.

Why doesn't Nintendo restrict

Why doesn't Nintendo restrict it completely? I mean if the point is to stop an 8 year old from seeing blood, gore, sex and drugs, what makes them think they wont stay up passed 11? I mean, if they're going to tell them what time it unlocks it just defeats the purpose, an 8 year old is extremely curious and WILL stay up to access the content. A parental lock is better.

"what makes them think they

"what makes them think they wont stay up passed 11" - They don't think all 8 years old will go to sleep before 11pm, are all mg readers so simple that they can't see whats going on here? By doing this restriction stunt nintendo passes the responsability from itself to the parents, hence no lawsuits are possible.

New Rules Ord..

Hehe, it's actually just about to apply a new roleset to citizens. It's not about protect anyone or anybody ever. It's simple to divide & wink with new roles, rules & laws. Stop doin it - we're no dummys! Region codes for DVD's worked soooo well worldwide..lmfao

Judging by how you write and how well you articulate your words, yes you are a dummy. DVD Region codes can't even be compared to this, so you might want to work on your analogies as well.
