Nintendo Prepares New 3DS Hardware For Japan

In the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct session, Nintendo revealed the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS LL; 2 new versionsof the 3DS hardware with an analog nub and new shoulder buttons.

The analog nub is located above the A, B, X and Y buttons while the buttons themselves have been recolored to match the classic SNES controller colors.

The new 3DS sports a more powerful CPU than its ancestors and come with built-in NFC on the bottom touchscreen, ready for the eminent launch of the amiibo NFC figurines. Additionally, Nintendo claims that the stereoscopic 3D effect of the new hardware is better than previous models.

Apparently, the New 3DS will be able to play all existing 3DS games but the opposite isn't true.

The two new 3DS models will be released in Japan on October 11th. North American and European release dates have not been decided yet but a Nintendo UK representative said that "Different territories make their own business decisions regarding individual products and timing. We plan to launch these products in Europe in 2015."
