X-Box to run Dreamcast Games

The stories about the future of the Dreamcast console continue to come in.
Following the information of the possibility of Sega stopping Dreamcast production, a new story has seen the light of day.
While Sega have been busy denying the stories released earlier this week , new information has been presented which places the consoles future in even further doubt.

The new story awaiting official Sega denial claims that at the Tokyo Game Show, Bill Gates is planning to announce the inclusion of the Dreamcast Chipset to the X-Box.

This would simply mean that the X-Box would play Dreamcast games.
So what evidence is there that this recent rumour has any truth in it?

- At the Consumer Electronic Show Bill Gates claimed that there were a few "state of the art" chips still missing from the X-Box but reassured us that they would be incorporated to the console soon.

- A report in the now infamous Famitsu claims that Microsoft plan to announce the support of a very big developer for the X-Box. The only big enough developers to fit the profile still not announced are Square and Sega.

- Sega announced in October that they plan to develop content for other electronic devices such as Set-Top-Boxes, cellular phones and handhelds. A neat coincidence?

- Finally Bill Gates address at the Tokyo Game Show, is planned for March 30, the stories of Sega's pull on the Dreamcast plug mentioned end of March.

It's up to Sega now to provide proof that there can be smoke without a fire.
