Yamaha does it again

How does the thought of ripping a 74 minute cd in 3 minutes strike you?
And how about recording at 20x?

Yamaha announced their new CD-RW line which will offer 20x recording, 10x rewritting and 40x reading and ripping. Just a few months after announcing the 16x model they surprised everyone with their new line.
The upcoming drive will be carry Yamaha's Safe-Burn technology to avoid buffer overrun errors and will offer an 8 Mb buffer.

In all 5 different versions of the product, Yamaha are calling it the CRW2200, will be released: internal and external IDE and SCSI plus FireWire and USB, using the 2.0 protocol.
Estimated release is for Q2 2001.

YAMAHA SUCKS! They make the worst CD Writers. The 16x10x40 Writer doesn't even write at 16x, but instead at around 8x (as tested). The only time it burns at 16x is like the last 30 seconds to a minute. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T BUY A YAMAHA CD WRITER!!!!!!

kicks26 what system are you using? Your computer is probably that shit that it doesn't support the burner to full capacity.Speedster don't listen to d**kheads like this, if you wanna buy it buy it. After all the best way to see if something works good is too test it yourself!

Kick26, I guess you are an idiot. The yamaha 40x16x10 burns at x15.78 for a full disk, just about 20 seconds more then a "real" CAV cdr.btw, it burns at x12 for the first 20mb of the disk, and then burns at a full x16!So, PLEASE, shut the f**k up!

i had a yamaha 8/4/32 SCSI and it f*ck*d up after about 6 months. i burn about 20 a day but still, thats sh*t. I now have a plextor 12x SCSI and a Plextor 8x SCSI which i'v had for about 2 years and its still goin strong. i cant speak for the new yammy writers but the old ones were sh*t. when i burned games At 8x my yammy writer the cutscenes skipped and jumped on my psx but when burned at 12x on my plex they are fine, it seems much better quality all round. The new 20x yamaha has an "anti glare" system, does anyone know what this is. I think its to improve the quality of high speed copies but i'm not sure.ps. burn proof V1 is sh*t on the first ide yammys it slows down your pc like fu*k, in seems to stop you using your ram or something, i know the new yammys dont do this though coz they have burn proof V2 which prevents this.
