If Sony agrees, Rocket League could see Xbox vs PS4
Rocket League is a game that has helped heal and exacerbate old wounds between the world of consoles and PCs. Without the former, PC players on the rocket-powered-car sports title, wouldnât have anywhere near as many people to play with and console gamers wouldnât have superior assholes to go up against.
While the game is available on both the Xbox One and PS4 though, players on those two platforms canât go up against one another, though not for want of trying.
That sort of cross-console competition is something that developer Psyonix has been trying to make happen for a while now, but Sony hasnât exactly been cooperative. In-fact, Psyonix has gone on record in a chat with IGN, to state that if Sony gave it the go ahead, it could make it possible for console gamers of all flavours to play against one another in a matter of hours.
âWeâre literally at the point where all we need is the go-ahead on the Sony side and we can, in less than a business day, turn it on and have it up and working no problem,â said Psyonix president, Jeremy Dunham.
âItâd literally take a few hours to propagate throughout the whole world, so really weâre just waiting on the permission to do so.â
This would suggest that Microsoft is game. If so, whatâs holding Sony back? It has many more Rocket League players and theyâre likely more experienced, so theyâd probably win most engagements.
Whatâs the problem?
