Nintendo Pulling The Plug On Some Wii Online Services

Nintendo announced that a portion of the online services offered through the Wii console will be discontinued from 28th June 2013.

The affected applications are as follows:

- Nintendo Channel
- News Channel
- Forecast Channel
- Everybody Votes Channel
- Mii Contest Channel
- Data exchange with Wii Friends via WiiConnect24*

* Exchange of Wii messages on the Wii Message Board, exchange of Mii characters on the Mii Channel and message/data exchange within some games will be disabled.

From 28th June 2013, the above services will no longer be available even if they are started up from the Wii Menu. However, services other than those mentioned above, such as the Wii Shop Channel and “Today’s Accomplishments” on the Wii Message Board, will remain available.

lol is anyone surprised? An

lol is anyone surprised? An Iphone has a more powerful hardware capability, and games are like 99pence. The people who own Nintendo are not clued up on gaming, they are just the same old businessmen in suits, wanting to reclaim the mario days. Nintendo, I will give you 24 months before loosing your entire console market. Ths is what happens when investors and share holders run the roost. They want your money, they just dont know what to provide.

retarded

You are really retarded, you can't even read the news right with your anger and fanboyism towards nintendo. They are pulling the plug on the WII, no the WII U. The same thing will happen to the xbox 360 and the ps3 when the next consoles come out. Do you really think they will keep paying for the servers on something 7 year old that already has a successor? But here I am talking with someone who just shouts buzzwords about shit they don't know.

Please could you tell me

Please could you tell me where you got your information from. I can only find info that states that the iphone 5 is almost as powerful than a 360? Nintendo have currently sold 95million wii's worldwide so an awful lot of business men not clued up on games. It's still early days for the wii u. If I recall the ps3 struggled at launch. Im not a fan boy, I just wish people would check their facts before they post.
