Rockstar Aims To Put All GTA Cities In One Game

Rockstar has already boasted that GTA V’s Los Santos city is larger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, GTA : San Andreas and GTA IV put together, but it seems that they still have bigger ambitions in mind.

"Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities," Rockstar producer Leslie Benzies told Digital Trends. "And let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context re-imagining Vice City would be very interesting."

And it is not impossible for Rockstar to perform that feat. After all they do have all the art assets of those cities, making it easy to move them to a new game a relatively easy task. It is worth noting that a limited version of GTA III’s Liberty City is already accessible in GTA: San Andreas.

Blown out of proportion

This was just a random comment from one of the R* North guys. Of course they would like to have all the cities in one game. Hell I'm sure they would love to have the whole world in a game, but there is a difference between dreams and reality.

You do know that texture

You do know that texture/model files take up storage(hard disk) space and instances use memory (ram) right? Even if they are instances of the same model, they still consume memory. Plus, reusing the same models and textures makes for a very boring, repetitive landscape. If you must think about consoles running a gta game beyond gta 5, think next gen. Problem solved...

Yeah I know they do. But

Yeah I know they do. But there are many efficient ways of doing it. Think of it this way, Halo 2 maxed out the 360 in and around 2004, but then Gears came out in 06 and has about 5 times the detail, on the same console. How is this possible? It's called software optimization, as well as very clever artists. Of course this GTA thing is pretty much impossible with the current consoles, but I don't know how anyone can say this can't happen.

You attribute nearly magical properties to software optimization, that's not how it works. If that's the case, then how is it possible that gears had so much more detail than halo 2? Simple, Halo 2 was far from pushing the 360 to the max. Who can honestly think a game can max out a console soon after its release? That's just silly, regardless of what was said back then. You're a perfect example of a sheep who listens more than he thinks.

Yeah, I'm such a sheep because I just explained that software optimization exists. My little brother can run Skyrim maxed graphics at 50fps on his Pentium D, 4GB of RAM and a Radeon HD4850, but can he run ops (1)? at 30 fps yep. Halo 3 (sorry, someone actually corrected me there, you're right about halo 2 being on xbox not the 360), as in halo 3's tech was pushing the 360 to it's limits due to poor optimization. What don't you get? You're really prepared to talk software optimization with a programmer huh? Btw I love the "sheep" comment, it's funny how everyone who isn't a "sheep" calls everyone else a sheep, quite a "sheep" thing to know, copying what everyone else says. Get original.


The only information i want out of you RockStar is whether you are releasing this game for PC. I don't care about anything else you do or say.
