Sony has sent reviewers what they called Lair Reviewer's Guide. The 21 pages book start with a forward written by Julian Eggebrecht saying "Open your mind and hands for something very different!" The Guide also contains artwork, gameplay advices and facts on Lair's story, characters, and dragons. Six of the 21 pages are devoted to the game's widely panned controls.
