After hacking and slashing his way through the entire pantheon of Greek gods, it looks like Kratos is about to work his blades through their Norse counterparts.
At this point, all we've got are a bunch of internet rumors that strengthen each other. The first confirmation regarding the series' new destination came from Twitter user Shinobi602, the prominent leaker who has previously nailed Mass Effect Andromeda and Battlefield Hardline.
...to the halls of Valhalla.

Following Shinobi602's lead, of concept artist Finnian MacManus who worked at Sony Santa Monica between September 2015 and December 2015 on an "unannounced project" set in Norse mythology. The team was able to find a large collection of artwork from the mysterious project "hidden in the site's source code" but not made visible to normal visitors.
Both NerdLeaks and MacManus' personal website have went offline for no disclosed reason shortly after the leaked photos were published. Fortunately, that was not before a NeoGAF forum member was able to snag the images and upload them to a photo hosting website.
Most of the photos in the set show indiscriminate locations, foliage and decorations. However, one photo clearly shows a bearded Kratos wielding an axe and a couple of photos that depict plant hazards have descriptions that mention the name "Kratos" explicitly.

The latest God Of War title, God Of War: Ascension was released on PlayStation 3 in 2013. A year later, Sony Santa Monica's Cory Barlog confirmed at a PlayStation Experience panel that the studio was working on a new God of War game but no further info was revealed since then.
