The Long Dark: WINTERMUTE is the episodic story mode of The Long Dark. It tells the story of bush pilot Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood, who are separated after their plane crashes in the Northern Canadian wilderness following a mysterious geomagnetic disaster. The story mode is divided into five episodes, each featuring a mix of survival gameplay and narrative-driven missions.
