Why Take-Two’s Newest PC Comment Has Grand Theft Auto VI Fans Hopeful

Game: Grand Theft Auto VI | Developer: Rockstar Games | Publisher: Rockstar Games (Take-Two Interactive) | Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S | Release Date: November 19, 2026 (consoles), PC unannounced

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has finally addressed the PC question hanging over Grand Theft Auto VI. Speaking at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on September 17, he called PC an increasingly important platform. However, he gave no PC release date, and Rockstar still has not announced a PC version.

What Zelnick Actually Said

The question came from an investor who pointed to ongoing PS5 Pro shortages. Sony’s console has been hard to find since Rockstar’s extended gameplay reveal on Netflix drove up demand. Therefore, the question hinted that an earlier PC launch could reach players who cannot buy the hardware.

In reply, Zelnick said Take-Two generally releases games over time on every platform with a meaningful audience. He also noted that the company could change that approach if a platform stops being viable. Most importantly, he told investors that “the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”

Why PC Players Are Reading Between the Lines

Zelnick has previously stressed that Rockstar launches on consoles first to serve its core audience. That stance has not disappeared, but the new comments soften it. As GameStar points out, consoles still come first, yet PC keeps gaining weight in Take-Two’s planning.

Rockstar’s own history also points toward a shrinking gap. Grand Theft Auto V reached PC in April 2015, about 19 months after its September 2013 console debut. By contrast, Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on PC roughly a year after its October 2018 console launch.

If that pattern continues, a 2027 PC release looks plausible. GameStar’s own game database already lists 2027 for the PC version. Even so, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed any such window.

For now, Rockstar’s official listings name only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for the November 19 launch. Meanwhile, VGC editor-in-chief Andy Robinson recently mentioned industry noise about the PC version arriving sooner than expected. None of that chatter comes from Rockstar or Take-Two, so treat it as speculation.

Bottom Line

Zelnick’s comments are the clearest signal yet that Grand Theft Auto VI will eventually reach PC. Still, calling a platform more important is investor language, not a release plan.

The safest bet remains a staggered launch. Based on Rockstar’s history, expect a gap closer to Red Dead Redemption 2’s than Grand Theft Auto V’s.
