Players survive a frozen Earth after a cataclysm in 2035 plunged the planet into deep freeze. Searching for supplies also leads the protagonist toward the dark secrets of the past.

About the Game
Permafrost is a third-person survival sandbox about outlasting the cold. First, players find shelter, because staying warm is the key to every run. Then they collect scrap, craft tools, and build a network of shelters across the wilderness. Meanwhile, hunger pushes players to grow plants, set animal traps, and manage resources. As a result, every trip outside balances risk against the supplies it might bring home.
Danger comes from wild animals and enemy factions, so both makeshift weapons and firearms matter. Additionally, a rescued dog joins the player and warns of threats nearby. Players also explore cities destroyed by the cataclysm, and they can unite with other characters to rebuild society. Because the story is driven by the secrets of the past, exploration matters as much as survival.

Solo or Co-op: Permafrost supports solo play and co-op for up to four players. Steam Cloud also keeps saves in sync, so progress follows players between machines.
