Civilization VII's 1.1.0 update lands today, March 4, for PC and console, with yet more fixes for the game's UI, alongside gameplay changes and more.
News in brief
- The 1.1.0 update was due to land alongside the title's first in-game event, "Natural Wonder Battle."
- This has now been postponed as Firaxis focuses on quality-of-life improvements.
- Two more updates are scheduled for March and April.
Firaxis is focusing on Civilization VII "quality-of-life improvements" as Civilization VII reviews on Steam remain "mixed". Update 1.1.0 includes fixes for the game's UI, which many players have complained about. It will also include gameplay changes to the Modern Age's Cultural Legacy Path and Victory.
Players can also expect a new natural wonder to discover, the Bermuda Triangle, refinements to the Army Unpacking action, and a fix for reported multiplayer issues when adding friends with a 2K account. Console players will get all prior updates from Update 1.0.1 Patches 1, 2, and 3 alongside everything else from this new patch.
Crossroads of the World Collection lands for Deluxe and Founders Edition players
Deluxe Edition and Founders Edition players will receive the first half of the Crossroads of the World Collection automatically alongside the latest update, with new civilizations Carthage (Antiquity Age) and Great Britain (Modern Age), a new leader, Ada Lovelace, plus four new natural wonders: Mount Fuji, Machapuchare, Vinicunca, and Vihren.
The title's first in-game event was scheduled to take place, "Natural Wonder Battle" was also scheduled to begin today, March 4. This has been delayed to allow Firaxis time to focus on improving the game for players worldwide. There's no new date set yet, but Firaxis will share this as soon as it is available.
What's coming next for Civilization VII?
Players can expect the next update, 1.1.1, on March 25, with yet more UI updates as part of a much larger plan to improve the UI over the coming months. This update is also set to include Quick Move functionality, a new natural wonder, Mount Everest, the ability to customize names of Cities and Commanders, and Scouting and Settling improvements for AI, alongside other improvements and fixes.
Part 2 of the Crossroads of the World Collection will also drop alongside update 1.1.1, with new leader Simón Bolívar, and two new Civilizations with Bulgaria (Exploration Age) and Nepal (Modern Age).
Patch 1.2.0 is scheduled for April and is set to add features such as the "One More Turn" option in Modern Age, multiplayer teams functionality, and more, subject to change.
In their Update Check-In, the team also shared some high-priority improvements they'll be working on in the coming months. These include ongoing UI improvements, mod tools and Steam Workshop support, and Hot Seat local multiplayer. More information can be found in the full Update Check-In post.
