Don't worry, Friday the 13th game hasn't been abandoned

The developer of the Friday the 13th game, Illfonic, has released a statement to fans that it has most definitely not abandoned the game just a few months on release. In fact, it's actually adding more staff to the game's support and update team, thereby continuing its development post release over the months to come.

Concerns among gamers originally arose because Illfonic has just announced an entirely different game that's set to release in the near future, called Dead Alliance. It's a post-apocalyptic, first person, zombie shooter that has purportedly been in the works for some time now - longer even than Friday the 13th. Illfonic claims that it was co-developed with other studios and has had no effect on the Friday the 13th game and will not affect its future either.

"Most major and independent studios have multiple teams working on multiple projects at the same time," said Illfonic CEO, Chuck Brungardt on Reddit. "This is critical for the survival of the studio, especially with the ups and downs with the game industry," Brungardt wrote. "Dead Alliance was started way before Friday the 13th: The Game. It was a co-development by Psyop Games and IllFonic then titled Moving Hazard. Psyop Games released Moving Hazard to Steam Early Access well over a year ago and it gained interest from Maximum Games for a console port."

Since the release of Friday the 13th, the developmental team has risen from 20 to 30 and Illfonic has even opened a second office with its sole purpose being added support for the game in the future. It claims that the very opposite of concerns is true: Friday the 13th will continue to receive updates for some time to come.

You can rest easy.
