Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the second-highest-scored PC game of 2025, with record playercounts

One week since its launch on February 4, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the second-highest-scored PC game of the year, beaten only by FFVII Rebirth.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is also the highest-scored Xbox game and the second-highest scored game on PS5, after Citizen Sleeper 2. Across all platforms, the action RPG has an 88 metascore.

Forbes reported on the game’s record playercount on PC, which kicked off at 159,000 concurrent peak players on February 4, the game’s release date.

This rose to 190,000 concurrent players on February 7, and by February 8, hit 233,000. That’s an impressive 46% increase in playercount since the release date and is unusual, as the majority of titles peak on the day of launch.

The game is doing well on Steam, too, with a 90% “Very Positive” Steam score. Reviews are generally extremely positive, with IGN rating it 9 out of 10 and PC Gamer’s review awarding it 90.

However, there are outliers, and Eurogamer only gave the game 3 out of 5 stars, calling it “a hard and maddening slog at times,” albeit still with “moments where it surprises and delights.”

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II outranks its predecessor in every way

Despite some less-than-stellar reviews, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is still faring a lot better than its predecessor, 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance. That scored a 68-69 on PS4 and Xbox, with a score of 76 on PC. Reviews for the first game came in at 84% for PC Gamer, with IGN scoring the title 8 out of 10, and a 76% score on Metacritic.

Warhorse Studios have ensured there’s a lot to love about this second entry in the series. Fans of the first game will notice the pacing is much better this time around, with the game’s main mechanics introduced earlier.

Combat is also improved thanks to a smoother learning curve, there’s a massive map, giving players even more to explore, and new role-playing opportunities, with improved quests and expanded dialogues. Every decision made by the protagonist shapes the plot and events that unfold more significantly, too.
