Gothic 1 Remake Simple Item Scanner Mod v1.0.12
Gothic 1 Remake has no built-in way to quickly scan the area for loot, corpses, and chests without walking close to each one. The Simple Item Scanner mod lets you press a single key to temporarily highlight all nearby pickable items, corpses, and chests using the game’s own outline system. Furthermore, the scan is manual and on-demand rather than always active, so it stays lightweight and does not affect performance while you are not using it. Consequently, clearing a room after a fight or checking a camp for missed loot takes seconds instead of a full search sweep.
What’s Included
- On-demand item scan toggled by pressing X by default.
- Highlights nearby loot, corpses, and chests within a configurable radius (default 25m).
- Configurable highlight duration, outline thickness, opacity, and color.
- Optional memory for already-opened chests so they can be skipped on repeat scans.
- Repeated scans refresh the timer on already-highlighted targets.
Why You Need This Mod
This mod is useful if you regularly finish a fight and then spend extra time hunting for items you might have missed in the chaos. It also makes cave and dungeon looting faster without turning the feature into an always-on overlay that removes exploration tension. Additionally, the chest memory option is useful for longer playthroughs where you want to avoid repeatedly scanning containers you have already emptied.
How to Get Started
- Download the mod archive and extract it to your PC.
- Install UE4SS for Gothic 1 Remake if you have not already.
- Copy the SimpleItemScan folder into your UE4SS Mods directory, so the Lua files end up at:
Mods\SimpleItemScan\Scripts\
- Launch the game with UE4SS enabled.
- Open the game settings and enable Accessibility > Object Outliner. This is required for the highlight system to work.
- Press X to run a scan. Nearby items, corpses, and chests highlight for the configured duration.
- To configure the scan key, radius, duration, outline style, or chest memory, edit
Scripts\config.luainside the mod folder and restart the game. - To uninstall, delete the SimpleItemScan folder from the Mods directory.
Good to Know
- Requires UE4SS and the game’s Accessibility > Object Outliner setting to be enabled. The mod feeds targets into the existing outline system rather than drawing its own markers.
- The chest memory feature is marked experimental. If you play on multiple saves or profiles, change the
chest memory slot namevalue in the config for each one to track them separately.
