Funny, not one UK PS2 to my knowledge has had any of the above mentioned problems so far.Konami WILL still be producing MGS2, so dont worry.As for this Nintendo guy, GameCube is the best competition for the PS2, but i and many others would still place money on the PS2. Its gonna be close.As for the XBox, well, MS have no experience with hardware. Also, most of the chips inside it are made or produced by Sony...ALSO, what do you mean crap DVD functions? It works fine. I find it funny how you put down the PSX/PSOne, statistically and obviously the best games console to date.Im not surprised to see that nobody here backs the DC though, its gonna die like the Saturn/Genesis/CD-32...

Actually I now realise how gay my previous post was. Dreamcast in comparison is performing much better than the previous failed consoles (cd32, etc..) it also represents very good value for money, and a considerably large library of games, for the gamer who doesnt want to wait and pay twice as much! Microsost I now realise, do in fact have quite some experience with hardware, especially PC peripherals.I apologise for thinking I know everything, when in fact i am an uneducated, small fish in a very large sea!!!

The PS2 is fine Look at the games comeing out next year MGS2,GT3,Z.O.E there are loads more mint games coming out for the Console that will **** on all other consoles even if the hardware is better PS2 rules and any one that says that it si **** they will die!!!!Dreamcast is already dead it didn't really take off any way!!

I think all consoles suck compared to PC. Except i do have to admit that the PS2 was better than I thought and Im thinking about buying that. But PC will always be able to outperform any consoles as long as PC has all the latest hardware.

another problem with the so called "best system ever". i made the right choice and bought a dreamcast!!!And another thing i'll bring up is, did anyone know that all the ps2 games have those jaggered edges, this is seen mainly in ridge racer 5, and not one dreamcast game has those jaggered edges, thanks to the dreamcast'sZ-buffer so playstation lovers suckmy balls!!!!!!!

hey pc-d-Best, Athlon thunderbird kicks pentium. Athlon is configured to work better for gaming and media. I agree though, pc smokes consoles in graphics--and consoles cannot be upgraded and don't have things like Voodoo 5's!

um, all of you talking about how all this stuff is better than a ps2... well, i actually have a ps2 and just because yall couldn't get one doesn't mean you can go around downsizing it. the ps2 is awesome, and with game like the bouncer and metal gear solid 2 that will soon come out for it, it will easilly be the best thing out there. (but then again, there aren't really any great games out for ps2 right now, cept for madden 2001 and possibly smuggler's run or midnight club. remember ps2 still only has its first gen games out now so wait for the 2nd and 3rd gen games and it will kick a$$!!!)

All of you should get the facts and understand that to play a console you have to use the proper equipment, andat the very least S-Video. All the claims regarding a PC being better in graphics for some reason Quake III on Dreamcast looks better than ANY PC "overpriced market" video cards(Geforce 2 GTS 64MB DDR, Voodoo5500) They still didn't put out, yes it coul,.d be programming but for some reason my Dreamcast Quake III looked better, along with when I play Unreal Tournament. If you PC people think that the PC is best, guess again a PC is good but not good for the "ARCADE" style my Tekken Tag is far more playable and looks more better than anything a PC programmer can even program for sorry all you VB programmers are wasting your time, any real programming is done at least in C,and at best "Assembly". my 2 cents.BTW: I have all consoles, and a whole bunch of PC's my opinion is not biased I point out the facts.

(thats right, not plural, i do have a life you know :) one pc does the job for me) i play games like counterstrike, teamfortress, UT, and others like red alert 2, shogun etc.. ieven had a blast on tony hawk 2 on pc.. i already owned it on psx, but the graphics are just so much better on the pc. by the way, its not possible for a ps2 game to actually look better than a pc game, they just simply dont support the sorts of insane resolutions that good 3d cards do.. when a bunch of mates come around, nothing beats having mamoth battles on tekken tag, countering each others counters - "CHICKEN!!!" - (if you know tekken, youll know what i mean:) nothing beats playing arcade games on a big screen tv, with a bunch of mates... like i said, there is no ULTAMATE gaming platform, console Vs pc will never end, face it!!

We could argue about the PC versus the PS2 forever, but the fact is that the PS2 is better for some reasons while the PC is better for others. Like already mentioned, the PC is an envolving technological masterpiece constantly upgradable and staying up-to-date and moving ahead, while the PS2 will be "locked-in" with its now-state-of-the-art technology. Give it a few months and that will all change. While the PC can be a hassle with all the conflicts and third party hardware and drivers, it CAN be an awesome machine and always state-of-the-art. What I like at the PS2 (and other consoles) is the simple plug it in and play, no hassle, and the controllers. Everything is configured and works perfectly (most of the time). In my opinion, PC monitors and graphics rival anything on a TV because of the resolution, but with HDTV becoming available these days, who knows what the future holds for consoles.

yall need to remember that the ps2 is still in its first gen! by summer it will have awesome games like metal gear solid 2 and final fantasy X, and it will also have online playability with games like final fantasy XI. now, i love my pc, and i really have fun with game like counterstrike and tfc, and i admit that if i had had the money i would have definately bought an alienware area-51 instead of a ps2. but i don't have $3303 so i went and spent $300 on a ps2. you are saying that the ps2 will be outdated in a few months, well in a few months it will be getting its 2nd and 3rd gen games and its online games, which will easilly make it the best gaming system out there (if you don't believe me, look at the playstation's first gen games and look at their newer games now, like ffIX and chrono cross). also throw in factors like the ps2 being cheaper than a pc, easier to use than a pc, it NEVER lags, and i think ffXI online is a factor itself. still, there are good things about pcs as well, like being able to use programs other than games and being able to go on the internet, oh wait isn't ps2 gonna be able to do that soon?

Consoles are not for kiddies! And I could care less if PCs have better graphics. PCs have yet to rival the gameplay of the Final Fantasy serries, have a successful fighting serries, or have half-way decent sport games (other than EA;s NHL serries).Now, don't get me wrong. PCs are great. And they are superior in many ways. My point was not to say that consoles are better, but to say that they definatly have an important place in any true gamers eye.And btw, if u use Warez u are not a true gamer. mods on computers rock, but so does the fact that *most* consoles offer great games, some which fully kick pc's, and the consoles are about 1/4 of pc's (unless you talk about the crap ps2) I love to edit my games on the computer, and i hate the split screen of the tv's, but consoles just have more exclusive games for them, that the pc don't get, and all the good pc games get ported over. But i think UT and Half Life belong on the pc ( CS....YEAH!!)

hmm.. consoles vs. pc's?? wtf is wrong with you console lovers? the PC has so many possibilities and endless upgrades while a console is bought once and it stays in its current form. Sure companies can come out with add-ons and $hit... but then again lets look at the Sega-CD add-on... a good pc (especially one with a sweeeeeeeet *** athlon thunderbird) can last you much longer than any console, and they can do so much more! Can ur brand new PS2 help u type up reports for college? or download mp3s? what about divx movies? can ur PS2 surf the internet for FREE mods to games that are HELLA cheaper than f**klNG console games??? NOPE I didnt think it could do that... oh well... the only real good use in console games is the quickness of setup and the fun gameplay with other buddies (if the game is multiplayer of course). But when it comes to graphics and multiplayer games on the internet, PC got any console RAPED in the @$$.

guyz why fight so much? pc is da best and nothing can reach it but its different den consoles and u can always use both. ps2 and da gamecube all have advantages u will never find zelda mario ect....on ps2 right but guess wut u can always find metal gear and final fantasies on gamecube. not only that the ps2 i hard to program so......good luck...i live in morocco dreamcast games is only for 6dollars in copies expensive compared ta asia dough. so look get a dc now its da best. den if ps2 2nd gen games is good den get it and sell ur dc. but once da gamecube arrives it gonna wipe both da dc and da ps2 so concurence will only be left wit da x-box. althogh microsoft has no experience in hardware+ look it all dose problms windows has dey made so many windows and they all sucked. peace to all of :)

my ps2 freezes up frequently on dvd's and on madden 2001....it ****** me off.

I have recently purchased a dreamcast for $150 and i absolutely love it. It certainly holds its value for the money and P(iece of)S(hit)2 sucks for 300 and all the bugs. Sony has not in my eyes been the most creative with their games. Yes i realize that the final fantasies are great but how many other RPG's are there that are nearly the same. I am only comparing dreamcast vs. PS2, not against the pc. I love my pc for games like UT, half-life, and Quake 3, but when there is many people over the simplicity of a console for multiplayer is just simpler and more fun even though pc graphics are way better. ROCK OUT WITH DREAMCAST

Ofcourse consoles will never really be able to compete with a good PC. As sushi so colorfully pointed out the possibilities to upgrade PC's are endless, graphics getting slower & jerkier at higher resolutions? buy a new GFX card, games gettin' slower in overall? perhaps a new CPU'd do the trick. You see you can always upgrade, and the prizes of PC hardware constantly drop because of all the brands and models. AMD keeps Intel on a leach and so on... The only real plus for consoles are all the great & original games made exclusivly for them, sure some of 'em pop up on the PC scene with greater graphics and better sound (A3D, EAX, EAX 2.0) and all but that usually take some time. I definentely can't say i hate consoles, I grew up with the Nin. 8-bit, it's because of that gray little thingee i developed this interest for games and then computers, it's just natural evolution as you grow older :)However I wish to point out that there is no way Sony will ever scrape the surface of Nintendo's kingdom!

I sold my ps2 because it sucks ..dont get it go buy a Dreamcast and NFL 2K1tekken tag kept freezing up and you cant have the PS2 on for more than 6 hours it gets to hot ....come on sony...we pay 300 bucks for this. i sold it for 550 and bought a dreamcast, 3 games and a DVD player, it came with 3 movies...thats awesome. sony you just lost all my future business and respect.

I've got a PS2 and I'm sorry I do, too expensive and the most blocky and terrible resolutions I have seen on a game system these days. For the most part I'm solely a PC man, but I do like to get out from time to time to get a good fighting game for a console. Unfortunatly I prefer to play soul calabier on my friends DC then use that PS2 piece of crap I wasted my money on.

I reckon it's AOK, I've got some PCs as well as the PS2. DVD works fine, games are OK. Thing that ****** me off is the fact that rental games have a stupid barcode on one side that puts the DVD/CD out of balance and the whole thing vibrates like hell - very annoying.

Does anyone remember why the Saturn didn't last too long, and the ps1 is still kickin. cause it's games. Final fantasy compared to phantasy star. geez come on. how bout Tekken compared Virtua Fighter. No contest. dc might even go bankrupt becasue of all those price drops and rebates because they are trying to keep up with the ps2

This PS2 V.S DC arguement will never come to a conclusion. The fact of the matter is.. The PS2 is WAY over-hyped. It's graphical capabilities are nice, but it's hardware is far from perfect (vibrating CD Drive, faults with DVD, Freezing etc). And the launch games are nothing above average. I work in the games industry for a games magazine, and so get to see the best (and the worst) of ALL formats, and I can confidently say that the dreamcast is BY FAR out performing the PS2 at the moment. I've been using the PS2 at work since the japanese launch in march and it's crashed many time, memory card info has erased itself and we've had countless problems with area coding. I've had a dreamcast for a year and a half now and it has not even crashed once, and i used to leave it on over night when i had no memory card.. no probs occured. Don't get me wrong, the PS2 IS awesome and having played both ZOE and Metal Gear Solid 2, i can say that they are the mose amazing game ever. But at the moment, if you lot are looking for pure quality in games, GO FOR THE DC. If you don't mind waiting, and have a lot of spare cash, then get a PS2 as your promised quality in the future. The luckiest of gamers (like me) will get both, and experience the best of both worlds. Last note: NINTENDO WILL ROCK THE WORLD WITH THE GAMECUBE. THE TECH SPECS ROCK!!!!!!- Enjoy games!!!!

I can't people actually are loyal to certain companies (Nintendo, Sega, Sony) and support and buy products from them only while dissing others. You've got to see that just because a company releases one good thing, doesn't mean that you stick to em for life. For god's sake you's want Sony to become the monopoly in the console market that WON'T benefit anyone. Look at Intel for ex. They had the whole CPU stage for themself and started on two things.1) Overpricing their CPU's2) Releasing low quality productsOnly AMD have managed to knock some sense into Intel by entering the market and becoming competitive. What good is it if you are forced to buy a bad machine or none at all.On the other hand, just a company releases a BAD product doesn't mean you abandon them for life. This is especially the case with Sega. One after another they released crap (32X, Mega CD, Saturn) and now the Dreamcast. Well guess what, the Dreamcast is GOOD.We should be thankful that each company is having turns at having the best machine (Super Nintendo, Playstation, Dreamcast) as this insures survival and competitiveness resulting in a happier experience for us gamers (unless your PC's).So next time you want to get a console, ask yourself without being bias, "which one is the best and has the games I want".
