EA To Cut The Orange Box Open

EA announced that they will be selling the contents of the orange box for PC as separate releases.

"We are unbundling Orange Box and releasing separate PC SKUs, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2," said Warren Jenson, chief financial officer and executive VP at Electronic Arts.

No further details were given, but it is expected that the separate SKUs will hit retail before the end of EA's fiscal year on March 31st. EA didn't reveal the games' prices nor did they announce whether the Orange Box will still be available after they are released.

Good ol EA aye?"Hey let's take perhaps the best game bundle of 2007 and rip it apart to sell each individual game separately for a total cost of more than what the Orange Box originally sold for, yussss"EA, getting less and less people to like them everyday.

um.. I dont like EA much and think they better price this cheep. but I do think its a good idea, I dont want to buy off steam seeing as then I need to DL and thats a waste of bandwidth, which is limted for anyone who doesnt live in a city, and as of how havent wanted to buy the orange box seeing as I dont want portal or team fortress, espettily for $40

the whole point of something like this is so that people who don't want to pay $40 for the 3 games can get the one they do want for less. even if it would be cheaper by part to get the whole set, if you dont want the other games its worthless. I haven't bought the orange box yet just for that fact why waste money on something I dont want? the utter idiocy of people who post on this site makes me laugh

this was not surprising at all considering that Episode one was only sold via Steam in the first place, too. That's why I did not buy the OB: no point in paying for games (portal, TF)I don´t want to and waited for something like this to happen. Yeij, can´t wait for the E2 going gold. It will cost less to buy it solely, you see. Feel sorry for all of you who bought the OB in all that hype and found out that Portal is not game of the year, but a tech demo and TF is just standard sandbox multiplayshooter. HAHAHAHA!ps. in case E2 does not ship solely, i wont buy it.

on the beginning you will buy the game install it and ready to play NOT ANYMORE now you install it and still got to download the dam game EA it sure screw up big time..who wants to spend 6 hours on downloading a game online that should be already on the CD..hell with that crap

I actually like this idea, because I didn't want to pay for Half-Life 2 again just so I can get Team Fortress 2 and Portal, also I didn't buy it on Steam because I want a physical copy of the game.If anything, this is a good idea, for those that don't want to buy Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 again even though they already have it.

It’s a good thing I don’t follow the hype of buying games like most gamers. It was just a matter of time… I knew Orange Box games will be sold separately and now I can spend my money on downloading the games I would like to play.Downloading the game is more convenient for me, I can play on other people PC without the worrying about losing /damaging the game disc, it will be mine forever online on my steam account.Question:For people that brought the CD version, once you registered your game on your steam account, can your download the game if you lose your disc?
