Chinese hardware site, PConline.com, managed to acquire and benchmark an official working version of Nvidia's upcoming GeForce 9600GT.
The new card, codenamed G94, features 650 MHz core clock frequency, 1625 MHz shader clock frequency, 64 unified shader units (stream processors) as well as 512 MB GDDR3 RAM clocked at 1800 MHz.
The Chinese website benchmarks confirmed Nvidia's earlier claims that GeForce 9600 offers a 100% performance boost over its 8600 predecessor. The card achieved 10813 points in 3DMark 2006 , compared to 6251 points scored by GeForce 8600GTS and 10391 points scored by GeForce 8800GS.
The card also managed to run Crysis at 27.3 frames per second on maximum details 1280 * 1024 resolution with Ant Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering turned off. All benchmarks were done using a beta driver, so we may see better performance when the card is officially launched.

Awesome, I knew holding out for the 9 series was worth it. Poor, poor 8 series users :P

Ahh the 9 series. Or should I say the odd number series. They're always just a stepping stone for the even number series. I had a 4 series was a great card, 5 series I didnt bother with, 6 series again had one of those great card, 7 series I skipped as the 6 was doing the job. And I can see the same happening with a 9 series.

Not good enough! There needs to be a card that can run Crysis on max settings at a CONSTANT 80 F P S.I'm sorry but these manufacturers just aren't pulling their weight these days.

Intel and Nvidia are the best, Screw Amd. Amd's just too crappy now, it's sad that amd never planed ahead. intel has pulled thier pants up after seeing how well amd did.

Another s**t card that can barely run crysis. Stop polluting the world with useless cards. We already have a half dozen cards that can easily get the same frames on crysis. So until you can make a single card that can run crysis, stop polluting the world with your useless drivel hardware.

9600 gt will be the same as the 3850 (both should be around $130 to $170)with the same speed.the 9800 x2 is faster than the 3870 x2 but the 3870 x2 goes for $390 to $450 most sites place the 9800 x2 at $30 to $100 more(both are just one card in crossfire or sli)ATI this time came out first (right now you can get them all... nvidia is a few months away....keep in mind ATI will be Direct x 10.1 will the new nvidia is still direct x 10 (could this be another sader 3.0 to sader 2.0b ??? who knows

at 16:8 4/2/2008That maybe but neither shader 4.1 nor DX10.1 are yet available on the market, that means your ultra pimped out ATI is actually running at DX10 and shader 4.0. Btw by the time 2009 hits we will have DX11 and probably 4.2 or 5.0 shaders lol
