About the Game
SCUM is described as a “prison riot survival game” where you loot, craft, hunt, build, and fight to outlast a hostile open world. Deep character customization — covering metabolism to skills — shapes how you survive against both the environment and other players. Gamepires was acquired by Jagex, which took over publishing duties for the eventual full release.
The game sold over 250,000 copies within 24 hours of its original Early Access launch. The 1.0 release reintroduced free-roaming animals for a more immersive hunting experience.
