Red Dead Redemption 2’s NPCs tend to behave recklessly when a weapon is aimed at them, with civilians and even lawmen often charging directly into a drawn gun. The Realistic NPC Behavior mod adjusts these reactions so that civilians are more likely to surrender and lawmen hesitate before engaging rather than immediately attacking. Furthermore, the mod does not remove combat or make NPCs passive, it simply makes their self-preservation instincts feel more believable. Consequently, robberies and witness interactions play out with more tension and less absurdity.

Why You Need This Mod
This mod is useful if you find that NPCs breaking into a sprint toward your drawn weapon breaks immersion during tense confrontations. It makes the world feel more grounded without removing the danger of hostile encounters. Additionally, it requires no configuration and applies automatically as soon as it is installed.
How to Get Started

Download the mod archive and extract it to your PC.
Install ScriptHookRDR2 if you have not already.
Copy RealisticNPCBehavior.asi into your Red Dead Redemption 2 game directory, the same folder that contains RDR2.exe.
Launch the game. The mod applies automatically.
To uninstall, delete RealisticNPCBehavior.asi from your game directory.

Good to Know

Requires ScriptHookRDR2.
This mod does not remove weapons, disable combat, or make NPCs passive. It only adjusts behavior when a weapon is already aimed at them.
No configuration file is needed. The mod works out of the box.
