Blizzard hinted that it may remaster Diablo II

As much as Diablo III was well received, Diablo II is often considered one of the best games ever made, especially if you just limit your awards to the dungeon crawling genre. Although it has been updated by Blizzard over the years, much like some of the company's other classic titles, it does look a little long in the tooth compared to its contemporaries. That may change in the future though, as Blizzard has hinted that alongside its recent Starcraft remastering, it may give Diablo II a fresh coat of HD paint too.

The Starcraft remastering is expected to show up this summer, but if a Blizzard job listing is anything to go by, it may not be the only one. In a post looking for a new "lead software engineer," Blizzard's description hinted at such a remastering being in the works:

"Compelling stories. Intense multiplayer. Endless replayability. Qualities that made StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II the titans of their day. Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation.

"We're restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done."

That's quite a hint and suggests that Warcraft III may be given the same treatment too. PCGamer points out that there was even a further suggestion of a new HD version of Diablo II, as in the "responsibilities" section of that same job posting, it suggests that their position will require them to "implement, maintain [...] infrastructure for the Diablo franchise.
