Metro: Last Light Dev: Wii U Has Horrible And Slow CPU

4A Games, the development studio behind THQ’s upcoming Metro: Last Light, has decided not to develop a Wii U version of the game because they believe the console’s lackluster hardware capabilities will undermine the game’s quality.

“Wii U has a horrible, slow CPU,” 4A Games’ chief technical officer, Oles Shishkovtsov, claimed.

“We had an early look at it, we thought we could probably do it,” another 4A developer, Huw Beynon, elaborated. “But in terms of the impact we would make on the overall quality of the game – potentially to its detriment – we just figured it wasn’t worth pursuing at this time. It’s something we might return to. I really couldn’t make any promises, though.”

The Wii U CPU was designed by IBM. Neither IBM nor Nintendo revealed any specific figures regarding the CPU’s clock frequency or number of cores, but it is rumors have it that it is a 4-core 3 GHz CPU. Most developers agree that it outperforms Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3’s CPUs effortlessly.

Either way, it is hard to accept the team’s reasoning given the fact that Wii U is already running Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Assassin’s Creed 3 on bar with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
