Before launch, analysts had a hard time forming deciding whether the Nintendo Switch would be a success. A lot of people feared that the Switch was simply an answer for a question nobody asked, but now we know that Nintendo was - once again - able to hit a chord with gamers as the Switch enjoyed the company's most successful console launch ever.
In a series of tweets, New York Times' Nick Wingfield reported that Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed that the Switch has surpassed the first two-day sales for any system in Nintendo's history, including the original Wii.
2. Fri-Sat sales for Nintendo Switch exceeded first 2-day sales in Americas for any system in Nintendo history. Next biggest was Wii.

What's more, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also turned out to be the best selling launch title in Nintendo's history, surpassing games like Twilight Princess and Super Mario 64.
New consoles typically launch during the Holiday season when demand for games and consoles is at its peak; however Nintendo decided to launch the Switch in March. It is still too early to call the Switch's a long term success or compare it to the Wii, but it sure is one huge step closer now.
The Nintendo Switch is currently sold out at most retailers as they await for the next shipment from Nintendo.
