Gothic 1 Remake’s trader screens show the current trade price of an item but not its underlying base value, which makes it hard to know whether a merchant is offering a fair deal. The Show Item Base Value mod adds the item’s static base ore value in parentheses next to the trade price in every trader screen. Furthermore, it also includes optional color grading through a heatmap system that tints displayed values from good to bad at a glance. Consequently, you always know what an item is worth before you accept the offer.

What’s Included

  • Displays trade value and base value side by side in trader screens: 🟣42 (125).
  • Optional heatmap color grading to visually indicate deal quality.
  • Configurable base value percentage per difficulty level.
  • No changes to trade prices, item definitions, stack amounts, inventories, ore counts, or save data.

Why You Need This Mod

This mod is useful if you want to trade more confidently without memorizing base values or consulting external references. The heatmap tinting also lets you scan a list of items and identify undervalued trades at a glance rather than reading individual numbers. Additionally, the mod is entirely display-only so it cannot affect your economy, inventory, or save file.

How to Get Started

  1. Download the mod archive and extract it to your PC.
  2. Install UE4SS experimental build for Gothic 1 Remake if you have not already.
  3. Copy the contents of the zip into your Gothic 1 Remake folder so you end up with:
    ...\steamapps\common\Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\G1R_ShowItemValueNative\
  4. The mod folder includes enabled.txt, so no changes to mods.txt or mods.json are needed.
  5. Launch the game and open any trader. Base values now appear next to trade prices automatically.
  6. To adjust settings, open G1R_ShowItemValueNative.ini inside the mod folder and restart the game.
  7. To uninstall, delete the G1R_ShowItemValueNative folder from the Mods directory.

Good to Know

  • The recommended BaseValuePercent setting depends on your difficulty: 50 for Novice, 60 for Gothic, 75 for Hard.
  • Set HeatmapEnabled=false in the config if you prefer plain values without color tinting.
  • Base values are only shown in trader screens. They do not appear in regular inventory.
