Ark sharks now have lasers attached to their heads

ARK: Survival Evolved is updated on a pretty regular basis, which is part of the reason that people keep coming back to the dinosaur riding, survival simulator. In its latest patch, v257, the developers at Wildcard have added something that all Austin Powers fans can appreciate: Lasers for their sharks.

That's not a reality thanks to the TEK Megaladon saddle, so if you augmented your tamed shark, you can now give them a laser to shoot from their 'frickin' forehead. Other new Tek includes a cloning chamber, a new turret and a new grenade. This patch also brings a UI overhaul, new music tracks, a big redesign of the Volcano and Ascension for end game progression.

To get to that late-game content though, you'll need to earn Element shards, which in turn require that you kill Bosses. Each boss is fightable at different difficulty levels, the harder ones giving you the best loot.

Alongside all of that new content are some new creatures for the world too. Apis Lithohermaea is a giant bee that forms large colonies around the Canyons of Scorched Earth. You'll need to kill a lot of drones to get the chance to tame a queen, but if you do, she'll produce drones of her own which will help the players create honey for later consumption.

The Daeodon Comedentis is a pretty hefty mammal often called "hell pig." They make for good mounts and can heal themselves and even nearby allies, making them great for group combat and fast ways to travel around.

This patch also introduces the Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus and Liopleurodon Magicus, as well as new volcano bosses to fight, cave spawn fixes, new emotes, a new alpha megaladon and tonnes more.

You'll have to go exploring to find it all.
