Following rumors that Nvidia had pushed back the launch of its upcoming Volta graphics range because AMD's RX Vega line didn't put the pressure on it like Ryzen did with Intel, the latest news is that Nvidia may flesh out its existing GTX 10 series range with a 1070 Ti running GDDR5X memory.
As it stands Nvidia already offers a couple of those mid-ground cards in the form of the GTX 1080 Ti and the GTX 1050 Ti, so a GTX 1070 Ti isn't that much of a stretch of the imagination. We have some evidence to back up these rumors too. As HardOCP reports, one of its sources snapped a picture of a system specifications which listed a GTX 1070 Ti Strix edition 08G alongside its Core i7-7700k CPU, 8GB of memory and its 750GB SSD.
Actual information about this card remains pretty slim right now, though it does seem likely to be in the works. A GTX 1070 Ti would net Nvidia a few headlines and reviews and help flesh out its existing Pascal line up of cards, which has been at the forefront of GPU performance since it debuted last year. It seems likely now that we won't be seeing Volta until early on in 2018.
The only real information we have on the GTX 1070Ti as it stands, is that it may come with the new GDDR5X memory standard. That's not been confirmed by anyone at Nvidia, but it would make sense and could go most of the way to bolstering the GTX 1070 performance.
