If you were worried that this year's release of the next generation Smash Bros. title on the Wii U wouldn't be playable - at least properly - since the console doesn't support the now pretty ancient and odd to look at GameCube controllers, fret not, as a third party has created one for it.
It's called the Wired Fight Pad and works with the Wii and Wii U by hooking up to a Wiimote, just like the classic controller does. It'll therefore work with any game that supports said controller, offering gamers this fall a chance to play the new Smash Bros on the controller that really made a home for itself with fans of the game - certainly much more than the Wiimote and Nunchuck did.
Unfortunately we don't have an image of the thing yet, as developer PDP has only just made the announcement that it's building one, but we do know the projected cost is $25.
However it stands to reason, that PDP wouldn't go out of its way to make an aftermarket controller just for one game. Could we be looking at an influx of Gamecube games on the Wii U? Reintroducing Melee, Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion, especially with HD touch ups, would go a long way to padding out the console's library of games while we wait for the big sellers.
What do you guys think? Is this a herald of more Gamecube games to come?
