Nintendo has been on a bit of a roll recently, with strong sales following on from the release of Mario Kart 8 and a big resurgence in interest of the company and its Wii U console since E3. It might be looking to continue that positive trend by leveraging some of its extensive historic game library, by adding N64 titles to its Nintendo Estore.
This was hinted at by Nintendo itself over on the Wii U virtual console page, where it posted the following, "tip:"
"Tip: Check back regularly for the latest releases, including the future addition of titles from the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 systems."
We already knew that there were some GBA games incoming and of course we've seen games from other, older systems like SNES and NES titles, but never N64. It would make total sense for Nintendo to push some of the games on that system though, since it had some of the best titles of the generation.
There's Ocarina of Time, which many still hold up as one of the best games ever, as well as classics like Goldeneye, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Diddy Kong Racing and many others. They could even be reworked with Gamepad functionality built in.
There's huge potential there, but will Nintendo leverage it? What do you guys think?
