are you sure that Far Cry is really gonna beat HL2 hands down? Hmmm......I think that the technology in what I have seen in Far Cry over the last 6 months isnt really that different from HL2 to be honest, and the storyline wont be as good as HL2 either. The character animation and AI wont be as good, and the ****** animation system in HL2 is excellent!Far Cry will probably be fun, but I think they are probably trying to do another Halo, rather than class themselves as competition for HL

What has happened to DOOM3? does anyone know when that is due for release or is it going to be delayed for another YEAR!!!

First of all, Far cry is not the game of discussion in this topic so if you want to cry about far cry then do it some where far away. As for half life 2 itself, the demos seem to be suggesting more and more out door activity will be taking place instead of the usual fighting in places that rarely see human contact. I wonder though what kind of options will be in the user map creation process as well as the multiplayer though likely it would take a very powerful computer to play this with all its detail in deathmatch with 5 or 6 people. Overall I wonder if they intend to release half life 2 near school time or wait till xmas so the shopping spirit causes the sales to sky rocket through the roof.

Far Cry looks like another SOF2, Good graphics but lacks the gameplay. I hope they release half-Life2 every where in the world at the same time!!!

@ OH DamnDoom what?? whats that?? Ohhh you mean the game Id has been making for the last 3 years and keeps getting pushed back further and further?Yeah, i forgot about that game to.I am now more excited about HL2, Knowing id, Doom 3 won't be out for a long time.One of the reasons it was pushed back again was Trent Reznor quit the project, he was assigned the task of making the sound and music. And instead of working on top of what he had already made, they started from scratch. Though i think that is a good idea, as trent reznor really isnt all that talented anyway.Big deal, he pushes buttons on a synthesizer woohoo. He doesn't really even compose, if he did that atleast he would have some respect, but he just places sound effect mixed in with simple beats, very easy to do.

Im definatly looking forward to HL2. I only hope that Valve can live up to everyone elses expectations.I dont think that the release of Doom 3 is going to be an issue, look at Quake 3 for example, great game engine.......***** GAME! Perhaps ID should try and employ some game developers for their next title i might go out and buy it, but i wont be getting my hopes up.

i think doom 3 will appeal to many people since its supposed to a be very scary game. ppl who i know who have played the leaked beta say it is really crazy. its good how its not tackling hl2 head on, the two will be very different games and i hope to own them both.. halflife 2 first. i cant wait to see what mods spawn from this new engine.. will be a really exciting time and i better upgrade!! you guys forget, HL didnt move any mountains and didnt appeal much to anyone, CS got gayer and gayer decreasing its popularity, mean while _337 players STILL play Doom 1 and Doom 2, and now the soon to come... Doom ][

HL2 will beat the crap out of Doom ][ fast. I've played the alpha, it's cool, but frankly it's what you'd expect from a new game. HL2 goes way further with technology and has AI that work their way through the levels, while D3 has same old Quake 3 AI. Sure it's pretty, but it's not THAT pretty. Only thing I'm concerned about is ATI making a monopoly with their cards in HL2. Developers are saying that FSAA (Fullscreen AntiAliasing) will only work on R9500+ cards, which will suck big for nVidia people. We'll just have to wait and see.

Oh, and the first HL DID move mountains in storyline and gameplay. They had the most complex scripted events ever seen in a game, and an actual PLOT. And my first sentence should say Doom ]I[ in that other post.

Dude, if you think HL has a good story, then your only a rookie to gaming. Heres the story for HL that every keeps saying its good but its not. So here it is, Some test goes wrong, aliens come through portal, marines and black ops sent in to kill everybody and freeman has to escape. Wow, thats a f**king awsome story!!!!!.That is the stupidist story of all time in gaming history!!!!.Not to mention HL has boring gameplay. I also got the leaked alpha of HL2 and must I say that the graphics are so **** in todays standards. Everything looks like rubber and plastic, ****** expression is horrible also, you should check out the ****** expression in sports games, 20x better then HL2. Not to mention the water effects are horrible when compared to Black Hawk Down's water effects.The reason HL made a big bang in its time is because of the AI and mods.Also, I think 75% of the people say it has a awsome story or best game ever are just followers and jump in the masses because there scared of thinking for them selfs.Yes, Doom3 wont have a story but thats the actual point of Doom3, its suppose to scary and shoot'em up with no story, which it does awsome for it.I'm sorry HL fanboy's but HL is the most overrated game in history.

Dude, i have no friggin clue what you meant by " the graphics are so **** in todays standards" HL2 has the best looking graphics of any game out right now, even Doom3. if you ever did play a leaked demo of hl2, there must have been something completely wrong with it, because the real-time videos i recieved from steam are the best graphics i've seen ever. i've played the leaked demo for doom3, and i've played sports games, and they are good, but they don't really compare well. and also about people just being lead to believe that HL had a good story, that's not true. people where told that the story was good, then they tried it out for themselves. HL is what got me into gaming period, and not just pc games, i mean everything. although the game-play for HL is boring now, it wasn't when it came out, it was brand new, and it was very enticing. and the water effects you were talking about...i dunno, i haven't seen water effects in BHD, but when i saw the hl2 vids..i was baffled. Kleiner's lag was amazing! the huge tubes full of orange whatever it was looked awesome, and the interaction with environments was also surprising. and i'm sorry, but you aren't really into hl i can see, so don't say it's over-rated, because it's the most popular game on the planet.

im gana have to **** in here, while i dont think hl's storyline was outstanding.. it most certainly was not ****!! it may have been simple on its outer shell, but it went very deep. with the different fractions all out to do their own objectives and how they do them is really interesting (and how they alter). hl had many things going on, like how u have to launch the sattelite, leave black melsa and get to that army base, fight those ninja chicks and go to the alien planet and fight some ***** guinie/alien boss or something. the story is told as u are playing it, and if u think the story was **** then u probably wernt paying much attention to what was going on.and to anyone who judges a game on a leaked alpha, u r an utter idiot, u cannot base decisions on a game while its still in its construction. its very safe to say that halflife looked **** when it very first started out, AS ALL GAMES DO.PS, i dont think the water effects in hl2 are crash hot, but they get the job done and does it honestly matter?

To Annonymous who thinks Doom 3 has better graphics because HL2 can run on lower spec machines...Thats only going to help HL2, because more ppl will buy it, and unlike Doom3 its very intelligent engine can downgrade its self to suit your computers spec. You must be stupid if you think hl2 is going to run on 1ghz, gf4 mx anywhere near the detail level we are seeing in these videos.

Also Dude wheres my car, if you have a leaked hl2 then its the tech demo, merely put together to show the rag doll effects, charater inteeraction and AI, the graphics were simply just being started on at the time and I dont think the developers would have found it necessary to delay the creation of a TECH demo before they had properly mapped the characters etc etc.

LOL, guys, the reason HL2 can run on low specs cause it uses crappy graphics and what they use is called scanned textures which are HORRIBLE!!!! graphics for any video game.If you dont believe me, go read about it and you will see.Also, people saying that HL2 has a better a engine then Doom3, LOL, you must be retarded then.HL2 engine has a problem supporting FSAA and if a engine cant support FSAA then that engine is ****.FSAA is STANDARD in video games now!.

who gives a **** about FSAA the game would be runnning at 5fps if you turned it on anyway so stop complaining you little ***, and the hl2 engine doesn't have plastic textures like doom3 and its phisics could own doom3's any day.

KyleMc is right the reason hl2 can run on low specs is because it lowers the detail 2 posts down is a dumbass its showing how customizable the graphics will be to suit your machine for good fps.

This game looks amazing. I can't wait for the release. The people look great, and I liked the little magnifying glass thrown in just to show off. Pushing over the computer monitor looked great too. Did anyone else notice that it fell because you pushed what was under it? All three things moved! Amazing physics, graphics, and some damned good lip-syncing. Half-life needs no cutscenes, the whole game looks like one! And, of course, we will have the stunning half life gameplay.

To those who say graphics suck cuz it runs on lower machines: I read an article in some PC mag about the games specs. It comes with more than 1 texture pack, and to suit lower machines it'll cut individual features (very pretty water becomes kinda ugly water) to run on said low end machine. But on a high end machine, u get the lovely graphics we see in this stunning video.So there!

This game will have cut scenes. If you have seen the dune buggy video of HL2, you will know that is a cut scene.Actually, the physics are **** in HL2. It's not as good as you think it is.Scanned textures are ****. Sure, Doom3 looks like plastic but so does HL2. Trust me, I have played the beta leaked demo.
