Shadow of War gameplay shows advanced Nemesis system

Shadow of War, the sequel to 2014's breakout Lord of the Rings hit, Shadow of Mordor, is shaping up to be a very exciting open world action adventure title, but as with the original, the most interesting aspect of its gameplay is the Nemesis system.

Built around the idea of unique, but randomised encounters with orcs that you've built up some sort of personal relationship with, the Nemesis system opens up whole new avenues of play, as seen in force in the latest gameplay trailer. In it we see how the Nemesis encounters can shape unique combat opportunities with various enemies and how your very own lieutenants can aid you in combat.

The focus of this new gameplay reveal is a siege, where the player takes on several different orcish enemies with hulking brutes of his own on his side. They each have their own interesting traits and abilities, helping you smash through walls, snipe enemy generals and even aid you against some of the toughest foes in the game, when it matters most.

There are also some amazing set pieces, with boiling oil, war machine bound drakes, cavalry that charge through flames and oh so much more.

The new gameplay walkthrough is an amazing showcase of what Shadow of War is capable of and we can't wait to get our hands on it in the fall of this year.
