Detonator 52.14 and 52.16

A beta version of NVidia's Detonator drivers has become available. Detonator 52.14 for Windows 2000/XP and Detonator 52.16 Windows 9x/Me were eagerly anticipated as the drivers with the company's answer to various DX9 complaints. The drivers are also preparing the ground for NVidias two new chips, the GFX 5950 Ultra and the GFX 5700.

As usual these are beta drivers and you install them at your own risk.

Like it matters. They just have more "Optimizations" for the DX9 codepath that uses frame clipping to artificially increase benchmark results. Stupid Nvidia. Good idea on paper but chips could have used a few more FPs. Ati has 5 more than Nvidia and it shows in DX9 games. They run more efficiently and without the loss of quality. Although Nvidia's 2D performance is about 26% faster than ATI's cards. To bad, but 3D is the future. The next windows GUI will be all 3D and take advantage of DX7 DX8 and DX9 pixel and vertex shading technologie. Although this seems a big waste to me. Who needs a really pretty os that uses a ton of graphics bandwidth??

no more drama, what are you talkin about, the next windows GUI will be all 3d, no it wont, mainly because it would put all of the computer manufacturers out of business because the all still use integrated graphics, and it would take too long to make updates and to actually make the user interface, i dont think that there will ever be a 3d GUI, at least not in the next 10 yearsby the way these drivers put nvidia back on the board for dx9

In fact, Windows Longhorn will be 3D. Emulated (e.g. software) or real (hardware). I don't know anyone who doesn't have a 3D accelerator. Even those cards integrated in motherboards do have 3D acceleration. So it's not a problem!Longhorn is going to be a KILLER!:-)

Andy I thought you were buying a radeon 9800 pro. you can get a 128 version for 325 where as 5900 ultra is 500. and the 128 version of the radeon 9800 pro will still outperform the geforce 5900 ultra in dx9.oh and anyone who says itll increase dx9 performance yea sure but not 60 % increase ( which is how much faster the radeon is compared to the geforce) oh and if you didnt know these are going to be half life 2 specific drivers because half life 2 is where the horrible loss came from.

jeans i was but ati are suspicious there dark & glooming nvidia will emerge victory i have seen the light....i won't dare put an ati card in my beautifull pc....& i'm not getting ati cause there cheaper besided i got enough cash 2 get 2 f**kin nvidia's 5900 (honestly).....nvidia...i will get the new 5950 when it's out that combined with the new 50.16 drivers when there out it will be class

damn, maybe you should go to microsoft's website and "read" about Longhorn. 3D interface, or GUI if you prefer. Unix did it years ago as a demo but it never took off. 3D accelerators were way to much money and nobody had them. But now, shit even crappy intel integrated graphics can handle basic 3D. Up to Dx8.1 even. f**king Nvidia, I was so excited when I saw there video showcasing the "Power of the GeForceFX". What a huge dissapointment. The FX cards only beat ATI's in games that are floating point intensive, like the Quake3 engine, where the FX faster clock speed give Nvidia a clear gain. But why would Nvidia pit the fact that just because it took forever for dx8 games to become available, that the same thing would happen to dx9? I have no clue. Because dx9 games are here now, and we can clearly see that the FX's strengths lie in the DX7 and DX8 code paths and not the DX9 codepaths, where they were marketed as being the best for. No, I was going to buy an FX but have decided against it. Nvidia have royaly screwed themselves over this time and are paying the price. The DX9 market is approaching way faster than they had anticipated. It's here now and Nvidia is caught with there pants down. Of course I'm sure they'll fix this with the NV40. They have to. And it will be an amazing performer with everything. But until it comes out, I'm staying away from Nvidia.

Please notice "DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK"Keep in mind that Nvdia's recent drivers seem to screw up a lot. For example, a 3d screensaver issue from the past. 3d screensaver comes on, the 3d fan on teh card wouldn't start = fried dead video card.after such a large oversight....i don't know if i'd be willing to use these beta's until some community feedback is present :D

besides when the nv40 comes out there will be a lift in the fx role playing this fierce competition between nvidia & radeon is mad.........The fierce competition between Nvidia and ATi, both of which claim to have the world's fastest mainstream 3D chip, has produced one heck of an exiting market for the performance gamer.whether it's performance or image quality related features,Both the 9800Pro and 5900Ultra chips create images of near perfect quality

i already have it, just wondering if it's really better, or if its worse. pretty much everything (except maybe hl2 beta) already runs smooth, but can someone please post a "before and after" result from 3dmark 2003?

Let Nvidia know how shite there drivers are and then maybe just maybe they will bring out a really good driver we hope.ATI are going the same way as Nvidia power mad crazy get this sorted nvidia or your gona crash and burn just like ATI is if they keep fetching crap out......LOL

whats really funny is how nvidia hasnt started using 8 pixel pipes on the 5900 ultra its still at 4 pixel pipes, nv 40 is gonna use 8 and going to rock atis socks off, thats the only reason the 9800pro and xt beat the 5900 ultra, in theory the ultra should decimate all with the fast memory and clock speed but it just has bottlenecks because of the 4 pixel pipes, 8 or even 12 would rock the gaming world for yearsto come
