For the fourth year in a row, Call of Duty has managed to be the biggest entertainment launch in the year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has achieved an estimated sell-through of more than $500 million worldwide in the first 24 hours of its release, according to Chart-Track, retail customer sell-through information and internal Activision estimates.

During the same week, the Xbox 360 flagship title Halo 4 made $220 million in day one sales.

For comparison, Modern Warfare 2 accumulated $310 million in its first day on market in 2009; Black Ops accumulated $360 million and Modern Warfare accumulated $400.

Black Ops 2 was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 13th, 2012. A Wii U version will be released alongside the consoles launch later this week.
