The long expected movie, based on the wall clinging superhero will not start shooting in December 2000 as reported earlier, but has been pushed back to January 2001 by Columbia pictures.

As is the case with all movie delays, the company claims that the need for perfection is what is causing the delay. Unfortunately Tobey Maguire remains on the project as the radioactive spider bitten Peter Parker.

This change is more likely to be a strategic change of the release date of the movie from November 2001 to May 3, 2002. The undoubtable success of X-Men may be the reason behind Columbia attempting to bring a near summer release for the movie.

Wait, it gets worse...There's actually talk that Spidey's webshooters, originally created by Peter Parker, the ultimate science geek, will not be mechanical,but organic. Yup. He's gonna shoot webs from his wrists as a mutation. Marvel say it's no big deal, after all, the last upset was that the X Men wouldn't have their comic costumes in themovie version, and that worked for the better.On another note, Alex Ross, the artist behind Kingdom Come, Marvels and Earth X is designing the movie costume. Funny .. you guys knock Tobey .. he happens to be a very good and likeable actor (go see Pleasantville). As for Tom Cruise playing the part of Spidey .. yer obviously not much of a Spider-Man fan are you. I am just as upset with the web shooter changes. I hope the fan hype will make Marvel think twice. Well 'nuff said I'm actually glad Tobey got this role he definitelt fits the physical description (not the one u guys made up in your dead .. pick up a comic .. Tom Cruise .. what an idiotic idea) plus he is the type of actor we wont be seeing doing stupid one liners 'I'am the law' - Dredd (assinine) he will portay peter with high emotions .. the real Parker . As for the webs and costume .. just pray cause I have seen nothing in any movie that can help there... Peace

I would like to say that the people a Columbia pictures are doing a bang up job. Iy has been a while since they stopped airing the spiderman series on TV and I am glad to see that this motion picture company is finally making a movie on the hero who i admire. It is good that they made the x-men movie and I think it is very difficult to make spidermans agility and speed a factor in the movie due to the lousey laws of nature. I can see why Columbia is delaying the making of the film to make it perfect. If it was anything but perfect im sure many die hard spiderman fans like myself would be dissapointed.
