I think Doom III will eventually be regarded as a tech demo for next generation graphics gaming, but it looks like it could be pretty scary, like the pinky demon smashing through the wall

This looks great, but I am rather upset since my computer has a better chance of doing a back flip on its on than running this game at a good fps... Bolagna...

lol, The game will run on most computers rather well without a super -expensive video card, it won't look as good but it will run preety well; the engine is brilliantly coded so u can get bad-ass graphics without bad-ass lag on your machine (PS. I have a GeForce 2 MX and the leaked, buggy-as-hell, alpha ran at around 20 fps in 640*480 mode in full screen).

I hope the games is a good story.. if not well, I will tell you how the graph is good for my eye !

I think i would have to agree with you there (from a gameplay point of view + Doom III has excellent lighting effects and overall graphics, but the characters faces look like Mr Sheen has tommy tanked all over them :/)

This game will set the standard for all games in the future. The special effects, the bumpmapping, the shadows system, the muscle engine, and virtually everything you see will be used in future games. I really cannot wait for this game. Right now I am playing UT2K3, and that has simply the most complex game engine to date. That is in terms of full games though. The DOOM III Alpha demo compared to the UT2K3 demo, well, need I say more?

Sorry anonymous, but you are wrong. A PC reads the data coming before it gets to the monitor, meaning you dont have to worry about lag. The FPS on the other hand would give you issues yes. Lag is when you are online and connecting with a server, playing the game, experiencing choppyness yes, but it is a different experience in all. The PC you are playing on is trying to retrieve data from the server, and if you have a bad connection, well, there you have it. Only soo many packets of data can be sent through a 56k modem. Do you understand now?

All the Data you are seeing on the monitor when you play offline is right there in your pc. It doesnt have to travel a very far distance to splash up on your screen, if you will. The CPU passes the data to the GPU and it is a syncronized from the beginning. There are no losses of packets you need to worry about, because it is all in your own bus and memory, and such.

Do you ever experience "lag" on the X-box while not playing online? Do you experience it on the PS2, or even all the way back to the SNES? No.

AND THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1000 PING AND 1000 FPS. DOES THAT SUM IT UP FOR YOU IDIOTS?

lag and fps are two diffrent things.fps-frames per second.lag- i dont know but its not that.i kinda know what people are on about when they say there pc is 'lagging'... i think they meen there fps suddenly when really low and then went bak to normalbut they are two diffrent things.

Just like many expressions, "Lag" is used by many people in both online and offline play. I say my computer is Lagging, and my friend sais the same shit. BUT they mean totally different things altogether.
