An Entire MMO Was Deleted And Taken Down By Accident

The Japanese development company Sankando and operators Hangame had to shut down their MMORPG, M2, for the most embarrassing reason of all: they got it deleted by mistake.

The game was taken offline last month for "emergency maintenance." Long story short, vital information data was deleted from the game's database before and/or during the maintenance and the development team failed to restore it.

As customary in Japan, the company apologized to its players and announced that players who bought premium items will get appropriate refunds.

Of course there is a possibility that the game was taken down due to lack of profits and that the data screw up is just a cover up. However, we can think of less embarrassing cover ups.
