NovaLogic announced that Delta Force - Black Hawk Down is currently under development for the PlayStation 2.
NovaLogic has teamed up with external developer Rebellion, to bring the PC game to the PlayStation 2. Using Rebellion's Asura game engine Delta Force - Black Hawk Down has been developed from the ground up to create a unique look that portrays a gritty and realistic war torn Somalia in 1993. As well as its excellent graphics, the Asura game engine also adds additional features specific to the PlayStation 2 version of the game, such as rag doll physics, in game cut scenes and realistic bullet penetration of buildings.
The single player missions in Delta Force - Black Hawk Down were created with the help of former Special Operations Soldiers and are based on actual missions undertaken by elite Delta Force Operators and US Army Rangers as part of Operation Restore Hope and Task Force Ranger.
In addition to the various split screen co-op games available, Delta Force - Black Hawk Down is the first game to offer PlayStation 2 owners the opportunity to play in games of up to 32 players online! The multiplayer content will be spread across 25 different maps with 7 different game types will keep even the die hard military FPS fanatic busy!
NovaLogic are also working closely with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the PlayStation 2 version of Delta Force - Black Hawk Down will be donated to the foundation. The SOWF provides college scholarship grants, along with financial aid and educational counseling to the children of Special Operations personnel who were killed in an operational mission or training accident.
Delta Force - Black Hawk Down is coming to the home console market this Spring!
