Toddyhancer mod for GTA V makes it look near-real

Photo-realism is something that game developers and artists have been striving towards for decades, and we've made big steps in recent years. Games today look more beautiful than ever before, but for some reason, it's only when the modders get ahold of already pretty games that we seem to get the closest to real life.

Take the recent release of Toddyhancer, by Reddit user Toddyftw, which takes the latest iteration of Grand Theft Auto and turns the fidelity up to 11. With changes to the color pallet, shaders and tone mapping, they've made the game look even more stunning than it already did. And much more realistic too.

All we've seen so far of the mod is what the creator claims is its "filmic look", but it really is quite a stunning representation of the game. It might be great fun dropping whales from the sky, or giving the player a gravity gun, but if realism in GTA V is what you're after, this is about the best available right now.

Imagine combining this with a VR mod to make the game playable in a Rift headset? Something tells us that's likely about the most realistic virtual reality experience available now.
