You can always return to earlier levels and master their objectives and complete reels to earn extra Xp and currency to help you progress in the game.

Guns:
Don't waste your money buying the cheaper guns as they are no better than your starting pistols. It is better to instead save up your cash and buy the more expensive, powerful looking guns.
